These babies have only just fledged this week! Seems a little late in the year, I hope they make the trip to Africa and back, (or wherever they go).
The parents are mega busy, swooping around, just skimming the field, looking for insects, they get so close some mornings when I’m pooh picking. Lovely job!

Four little swallows, sitting in a tree. Oopps wrong song and wrong setting but I hope you see them again next spring, too and their children.

Wow, Eliza - they are so gorgeous! There is nothing quite like a swallow in flight. I love to watch them dip, swirl and shoot across the sky. Enjoy them and I do hope they return to your place next year.
Awwww yay for pooh picking! Oh you are so lucky to have these gorgeous swallow babies at your place - they're beautiful! I wish them well and safe journey too! take care

Just to let you know, this is where my horse lives, not me unfortunately :-)
Thanks for the comments though.
They are so cute.
Aw! Yay for swallows! They're super cute.
There is a place off of the coast of Southern California called San Juan Capistrano. Each year swallows return to this place to nest. It is quite the scene and collects visitors from all around to view the spectacle......however, I never thought of the poop problem until now..............kt
Lovely birdies!

kt - It's horse poop I'm picking, although the swallows do produce a fair bit :-)
Swallows are my favourite little birds! it's always so exciting when the first ones arrive. Years ago, they used to build their nests at our home (in the garage of all places!) and, although they made quite a mess, we allowed their nests to stay. Sadly, they have stopped coming. We don't know why since we have many other feathered visitors who think we offer great accommodation!
I wish I could have some of your horse pooh! All I pick up around here is dog pooh!
