Little Zachary was doing quite badly in maths. His parents had tried everything. Tutors, mentors, flash cards, Special Learning Centers. In short, everything they could think of to help his maths.
Finally, in a last ditch effort, they took Zachary down and enrolled him in the local Catholic school. After the first day, little Zachary came home with a very serious look on his face. He didn't even kiss his mother Hello. Instead, he went straight to his room and started studying. Books and papers were spread out all over the room and littleZachary was hard at work.
His mother was amazed she called him down to dinner. To her shock, the minute he was done, he marched back to his room without a word, and in no time, he was back hitting the books as hard as before. This went on for some time, day after day, while the mother tried to understand what made all the difference.
Finally, little Zachary brought home his report card. He quietly laid it on the table, went up to his room and hit the books. With great trepidation, his Mum looked at it and to her great surprise Little Zachary got an "A" in maths. She could no longer hold her curiosity.
She went to his room and said, "Son, what was it? Was it the nuns?" Little Zachary looked at her and shook his head, no. "Well, then," she replied, "Was it the books, the discipline, the structure, the uniforms?" Little Zachary looked at her and said, "On the first day of school when I saw that guy nailed to the plus sign, I knew they weren't fooling around."

I'm exhausted.........
Mentally not physically.
I have been sitting between my warring Mother and brother for the last few days, so I haven't had time for blogging, just the occasional tweet!
I feel brain dead, so haven't got anything interesting or coherent to write about, but I must thank Kit Courteney and Rosiero for the very kind awards they have given me, thankyou both so much. I will get round to sending on the awards later.
Families can be wonderful things, but they can also be very toxic at times - I'm a bit fed up with being "piggy in the middle" see here if you feel so inclined to get a bit of background! It's about time everyone grew up.

Thursday Twaddle
I've had a day strolling around the internet. I've spent sometime on You Tube, and there I found a video I haven't seen for ages, but still makes me laugh so much. I hope you enjoy it and no one takes offence. I love Rowan Atkinson, except the Mr Bean character!

Samhain
(photobucket)
Samhain is a very important date in the Wiccan calendar as it marks the Feast of the Dead. Many Wiccans also celebrate it as the old Celtic New Year, rather than the Yule festival.Last year we lost two family members, one long expected, and one very shocking suicide, both were around this time of year, so I will be thinking of them a lot.
Samhain has been celebrated for centuries and has its origin in Pagan Celtic traditions. It was the time of year when the veils between this world and the Otherworld were believed to be at their thinnest: when the spirits of the dead could most easily meet with the living once again. Later, the festival was adopted by Christians, they celebrated it as All Hallows' Eve, followed by All Saints Day, though it still kept elements of remembering and honouring the dead.
To most modern Wiccans, while death is still the central theme of the festival this does not mean it is a morbid event, death is not a thing to be feared. Old age is valued for its wisdom and dying is accepted as a part of life as necessary and welcome as birth. Wiccans, like people of other faiths, always honour and show respect for their dead, this is particularly marked at Samhain. Loved ones who have recently died are remembered and their spirits often invited to join the living in the celebratory feast.
Death also symbolises endings and Samhain is therefore not only a time for reflecting on mortality, but also on the passing of relationships, jobs and other significant changes in life. A time for taking stock of the past and coming to terms with it, in order to move on and look forward to the future.
I'm still trying to learn about Wicca, I feel drawn to it somehow, I won't be able to truly celebrate this year as I'm working, but I should be able to find sometime for a little quiet meditation.

Monday Moan
Who am I moaning about?
ME.
I just seem to have no energy or enthusiasm for anything - I need a good kick up the backside. All I want to do is sleep, I can't blame the clocks because I've felt this way for a while. I should have been a bear, then I could just hibernate for a few months.
I need some self discipline, a routine - maybe I should go back to day shifts?
May be not, I'd end up doing days and nights in the same week, ten times worse, that's why I do permanent nights now.
Anyone got any bright ideas?
Never mind, I just need to get up in the mornings, my cats do try, watch this, it's my alarm clock times 4!

The Neanderthal
Now I’m watching This Week. I don’t pretend to know much about politics, but I do enjoy these programs.
Nick Griffin, the leader of the BNP (British Nationalist Party) was on. Oh my…. I did take some pleasure in watching him sweat and squirm. I just don’t understand his way of thinking.
How can anyone these days deny the holocaust, and say the KKK is non violent! But this man can.
Yes, maybe there are some problems with illegal immigration, but re establishing the Nazi party is not the way to go. It was like watching a thug in a suit on that platform, or maybe a neanderthal in a suit, (maybe I'm judging the Neanderthal too harshly, after all they may have been a gentle tolerant race)
There was an awful lot of backpedaling going on, all in the name of image - I'd love to be a fly on the wall when the cameras are off!
